Top Floor Cold - Stevensburg, VA

Challenge

This Stevensburg, VA homeowner was having issues keeping the top floor warm int he inter seasons. The evaluation showed a tremendous amount of air leakage through the rim joists around the first floor, and also air leakage from the attic to the top floor.

Solution

Drywall was cut open to access the rim joists on the first floor and they were then sprayed using a closed cell foam. The attic was entirely air sealed using one part spray foam, including the leaky can lights, and top wall plates. Then, TruSoft cellulose was blown in to provide a great R60 thermal barrier.
