Making Top Floor More Comfortable-Remington, VA
Challenge
New homeowners in Remington, VA loved everything about their new home, except that the upstairs was always uncomfortable. In the summer, the top floor bedrooms were always hot and in the winter they were freezing. Our experienced evaluator found that their attic insulation was inadequate and their conditioned air was leaking out through the recessed light fixtures and the attic scuttle hole.
Solution
Once the problem was diagnosed, our production crew got to work. First we removed all of the old icky insulation and disposed of it. Next, we air sealed the entire attic, ensuring that no more conditioned air could leak through the cracks. They also air sealed the recessed lights after installing TiteShell recessed light fixture covers. Then they re-insulated the attic by blowing in TruSoft cellulose and finally, they air sealed and insulated the attic scuttle cover.
Now these new homeowners had an upstairs that was much more comfortable and livable.
