Kitchen in Leesburg has cold cabinets!!!
Challenge
This home in Leesburg Virginia had major issues in the kitchen. During the Winter, kitchen cabinets and everything inside them got as cold as ice. Every time they opened the cabinets and reached in, they felt cold plates. This Leesburg homeowner was introduced to Comfenergy, LLC by their handyman. They were looking to stop warming their dinner plates in the oven before eating.
We performed an evaluation and found there to be empty cavities in the soffits above the kitchen cabinets. Thus, allowing cold air to make the cabinets and everything in them freezing cold.
Solution
Comfenergy, LLC first performed a complete attic air sealing throughout the attic above the kitchen. We used one part foam spray to seal all top wall plates, and any other air leakage spots. We closed off the tops of the soffits above the cabinets with 4" thick foam boards called SilverGlo.
Then, one part foam spray was used again to seal around these SilverGlo boards to ensure no more cold air fell down into the cabinets. Once the air sealing was finished in this Leesburg home, we blew in 10" additional depth of loose TruSoft cellulose insulation over top of everything.
The homeowners had been dealing with this since the day they moved in back in 1976!!!
They now have a warm, comfortable, quiet, energy efficient home.
