Attic Insulation in Hamilton, VA

Challenge

This historic home in Hamilton, VA was looking for a VERY unique solution. They wanted to make the attic and home more energy efficient, yet not tear up any of the existing attic floor, still have storage space, and have the solution be reversible as it is a historic home. Tough job, but we can handle it. The perfect solution for this is a SuperDeck!

Solution

Comfenergy installed a SuperDeck in the attic. SuperDeck is basically graphite infused 4" thick rigid foam board with heat reflective barrier on both sides. Then, we install plywood sheathing on top of that. Foam spray is used to seal every last joint to make a perfect air seal and not allow heat to leave the home in the winter. All of the desires the homeowner wanted all wrapped into one solution.

The house is now much more energy efficient! There was no damage to the home, the solution is reversible, and the homeowners still have the entire attic as storage space!
