Drafty Wall - Ashburn, VA
Challenge
This Ashburn, VA homeowner was complaining about a drafty kitchen on the back of their home during the winter. They wanted this issue resolved to be more comfortable during winter months.
Solution
Through the use of a blower door, smoke pencil, and thermal imagery we determined that the rear wall was poorly insulated. Fiberglass batts were allowing the air to easily pass through, thus reducing the R value and air barrier tremendously. Comfenergy removed the vinyl siding and drilled holes in each of the stud cavities. Then, TruSoft cellulose insulation was "dense packed" into each stud space. Now that each space has been filled, no air can pass through, and the kitchen will stay warm in the winter.
