Sound Proofing Insulation in Aldie, VA
Challenge
A business was constructing a new office/repair shop in an industrial park located in Aldie, VA. The structure is beautiful and the culmination of a long time goal of the business owner.
The owner wanted to have effective sound proofing between the noisy repair shop and the office space. Furthermore, they were looking for some sound attenuation between the offices, conference rooms and restroom facilities.
Solution
The solution required that we use a few different materials to develop the best solution. Open Cell Spray Foam, Rockwool sound attenuation batts, and sound deadening putty were all deployed to trap the sound and dampen it before it reached the office spaces that were designed for peace and quiet.
Open Cell Spray Foam was used on the masonry wall between the office space and the repair shop. This provided both thermal resistance as well as sound attenuation. Wires were bundled in house wrap and protected from the foam in the event that any future repairs are required to the wiring. The foam was applied from the bottom of the wall section to the top of the metal beam of the roof structure.
Rockwool "Sound and Fire" batts were used in the interior wall spaces. These same batts will be installed on top of the suspended ceiling tiles once they are installed to stop the sound from traveling in the interstitial space above the interior partitions.
Lastly, all electrical boxes were wrapped in Sound Attenuating Putty to stop sound waves from traveling through those assemblies.
