This Middleburg, VA homeowner couldn't sleep at night because their top floor was 10-12 degrees hotter than the other areas of their home. Once Comfenergy showed them why, they were "all in" to fix it.
Solution
We air sealed the attic leakage spots, installed "dams" around the storage deck to keep insulation from falling onto it, and installed radiant barrier to reflect the heat out of the attic.
Project Summary
Evaluator: John LeVan
The attic was thoroughly air sealed, and "dams" were installed to keep cellulose off of the storage walk-way.
Look how deep that cellulose is! No air is getting through there!
SilverGlo foam boards were used to properly air seal and insulate vertical walls in the attic. This keeps the heat from getting to the drywall and radiating into rooms.
Radiant barrier was installed to reflect heat back out of the attic....just like those things people put in the front windshield of their car during the summer.
