This Marshall, VA homeowner wanted better access to their attic for storage while Comfenergy performed other air sealing and insulating. We can make the home more comfortable, more efficient, and ad more storage space all in the same job!
Solution
The following is a series of pictures that Comfenergy took while replacing a "whole house fan" that was removed to stop air leakage. We replaced this hole with nice pull down stairs as a replacement and an attic storage deck too.
Project Summary

This is the hole that remained from the removal of a whole house fan that was leaking tons of heated air out of this Marshall, VA home.
Comfenergy re-framed the opening to fit a new set of pull down stairs so the homeowner could better access a new storage area above.
Here is a picture of the pull down stairs being "squared up" so the don't bind or pinch when they open and close.
Drywall was patched, and an attic tent was installed so that heated air doesn't leak from this new location, thus keeping this home warm, less drafty, and more energy efficient.
