Challenge

This Leesburg, VA homeowner was remodeling this old home and flipping it. She ran into a few issues with being able to insulate the dwelling properly as it was built long ago. Many of the older construction styles will not facilitate newer, more efficient air sealing and insulation.

Solution

Comfenergy put together a two-part solution in which spray foam was used on the roof deck. This kept the homeowner from having to reconstruct the roof, yet still have great efficiency from the insulation. The walls of the home were fine to be able to handle today's insulation codes, so cheaper fiberglass insulation was used to save money.

This beautiful Leesburg, VA home was having trouble meeting new building insulation codes. It was built many years ago and was being renovated and "flipped".

The owner was faced with having to alter the roof design and reconstruct it if a solution wasn't found.

This is a before picture of the top floor near the top of the stairs.

Look at this big stone fireplace. The owner wanted to remove the wall to cover it so that the stone would cover the entire wall.

Here is a view of the kitchen after the fiberglass rolled batts were installed. Notice the caulk at the bottom of the wall to help lessen air infiltration.
