This Annandale, VA homeowner was looking for ways to lower their utility bills. The best place to start would be the attic.
Here is a picture of the attic before we started work. Look at the old, nasty insulation.
Furnace, water heater, and fireplace flue pipes need to be wrapped with rock wool insulation first so that the heat stays away from the insulation as a fire safety precaution.
Can lights are very leaky and can be covered to stop air from leaving the home that you are paying for. Plus, it keeps the heat of the can light away from insulation as a fire safety precaution.
The final product!! No more drafts and lowers the utility bills.
