This Sterling, VA homeowner was looking to improve the energy efficiency of their home. A full comfort and energy evaluaiton was performed and it was determined that there was a ton of air leakage in the home at the attic level.
Solution
The existing insulation was removed, the attic was air sealed, and new R60 TruSoft cellulose was installed. This customer even noticed their HVAC running less because the heated and cooled air wasn't leaving the home as quickly.
Project Summary
Evaluator: Corey Hatcher
This Sterling, VA homeowner was looking to lower their utility bills.
The existing fluffy, fiberglass insulation was uneven, and it allows a tremendous amount of "wind washing" to pass through it. Very inefficient at holding air in or keeping air out.
Once the insulation had been removed it was time to air seal all air gaps and leaks with one part spray foam.
Finally, TruSoft cellulose was installed to a level of R60. Now this house will be nice and comfortable and the HVAC system will run less.
