Project Summary
Evaluator: Shayne Sandner
This Hamilton, VA homeowner was having issues with hot and cold spots in their family room.
The main source of frustration was the family room on the back side of the home. This customer called us because they wanted to stop having to use space heaters in the winter and fans all summer long.
Thermal imaging showed there was quite a bit of air leakage through this vented soffit to the back of the family room.
After removing the soffit materials, the thermal imaging test was confirmed. Here you see large air gaps above and around the fiberglass batts.
Comfenergy used a process called "dense packing" of cellulose insulation material to fill these gaps.
Here the Comfenergy crew member is seen re-installing the soffit material after the dense pack was completed.
