Photo Album: Encapsulated Crawl Space-Falls Church, VA
This Falls Church, VA homenwer suffered from cold floors and drafty areas throughout the house in the winter. Comfenergy found that the entire home was built over a vented crawl space. This was allowing cold air into the crawl space and under the floors throughout the entire first floor of the home. Thus, making the floors above cold.
The other problem that was not known to the homeowner was the crawl space had mold in it because it was vented.
The solution that was proposed, and accepted: Rid the crawl space of mold, remove the old nasty fiberglass insulation, and then encapsulste the crawl space using dimple matting, TerraBlock insulation, CleanSpace vapor barrier, and finally closed cell spray foam on the walls and rim joists.
Now that the crawl space is a conditioned area, it solves all of the issues with one solution!!!
