The Community Center
Here is what the community center we were working with looked like!
A Classroom
This is what one of the classrooms looked like on the inside, and as you will see in the next photo, they were in need of some help.
Poking Through
Here you can see the old fiberglass insulation literally falling through the ceiling. This attic insulation job is in need of a face lift. The pink stuff poking through is the fiberglass insulation which was used to be the predominant thermal insulation being used, but that should no longer be the case. Continue through this album to see what alternative method we used.
Duct Encapsulation
If ducts are not properly installed or they are in conditions that don;t suit them, they may be points of unwanted air leakage or sweating. Any moisture in a space like this can be detrimental, and air leaks are another source of wasted dollars. So, as you can see in this photo we seal the ducts entirely.
Duct Encapsulation Pt. 2
Here you can see that we used spray foam to encapsulate the ducts!
TiteShell Covers
Another step of air sealing and insulating an attic is installing can light covers! When there are points of leakage through lighting fixtures it is important to not only stop that leak, but also fireproof the space. The heat from lighting fixtures can be very dangerous and these TiteShell can light covers are fireproof!
Foiling the Cieling
The last step may seem a bit out there, but it actually is quite simple- tin-foiling the roof! This tinfoil like product if called Radiant Barrier and it acts as a reflective agent, keeping heat out. This deters the heat that comes directly from the sun rays. This is a very sustainable solution that can be much cheaper than other options.
Radiant Barrier - pt. 2
This is just another photo of Radiant Barrier! Note that this product is only greatly effective if you live in a particular climate and happen to receive a lot of direct sunlight.
Reaching the End!
Here you can see what the whole space will look like upon completion.
The End
The final step of every project is the clean up. We strive to leave every space cleaner than we found it and you can see that in action in this photograph!
