The Before
Here is the "cellar" portion of the basement from before we can in. You can see that the floor is unfinished, and the cement is permeable. Next, we will seal and insulate the ground so that it is no longer a point of entry for moisture and critters.
Drainage Matting
The brown bubbly matting on the ground is the CleanSpace Drainage Matting, the first layer or protection between the Earth and your home. The bubbly nature of the CleanSpace Matting allows the Earth space to breathe and move below and separate from your home.
The Next Layer
The next layer of protection is TerraBlock. This thick white insulator will be the primary thermal insulator. Not every space who needs a crawlspace waterproofing treatment needs TerraBlock, but not only does it act as in insulating agent, but also as a comfy layer for the knees of those using the space! This is mostly relevant in smaller crawlspace like areas.
The Next Next Layer
After the TerraBlock, it is time for the CleanSpace Liner. The liner is the final layer and the guaranteed barrier between your home and all outside vapor. We will see the same product used in the rest of the basement.
The Basement
What we are looking at here is the rest of the basement. Along the floor you can see the drainage system we install that collects all of the water that might come through the walls, windows, or doors. The drainage system is called WaterGuard.
CleanSpace Liner
After the WaterGuard Drainage System is installed, we can apply the CleanSpace Liner to the walls. As in the cellar area of the basement, this will act as the vapor barrier between your home's foundation and your basement.
All Taped Up
We use a special high strength waterproof tape to seal all of the sheets of CleanSpace Liner together as well as using it to seal where the liner meets the WaterGuard.
The Sump Pump
We removed the original sump pump which was not properly doings it's job, and replaced it with a new state of the art SuperSump Sump Pump. This sump pump not only collects all of the water in its high-volume canister, but it will also alert the homeowners if there is too much water to avoid a flood. Additionally, it is bug, child, odor, and radon proof!
