Photo Album: Attic air seal and insulation in Leesburg
This home in Leesburg Va was not comfortable from room to room year-round. The homeowner called to have a free energy audit performed and it was determined that they would benefit from having several service options performed in the attic. The existing insulation was removed which allowed our team to air seal all of the small cracks and joints in the ceiling where conditioned air was escaping the home, into the attic, and outside. Here you can see several examples of small holes and cracks that were filled in with spray foam. Afterward, the ducts were insulated to help keep the air running through them at the desired temperature as it passes through. Last we filled the attic with blown insulation to help further keep the inside temperatures at the homeowner's preferred comfort level.
Insulated ducts and ceiling
After the spray foam air seal is done, the rest of the attic is filled with blown insulation.
Spray foam air seal
Spray foam was used to seal up the small holes and cracks that were previously used to allow air to pass through them.
Air pass though
The wiring holes in the wood frame along with the unsealed spaces between boards allow air to pass through. This is one way that conditioned air can escape your home.
Before insulation.
After the cracks and seals are sprayed foamed, the attic is ready to have insulation done.
Spray foam
More targeted spray foam was used in the cracks and joints in the ceiling. This reduces the opportunity for conditioned air to escape the home.
