Photo Album: Annandale Va attic air seal and insulate
The owner of this Annandale Va home wanted to reduce the dust and allergens in the home and improve their year round comfort. After our sales professional Jason Brown did a home inspection he identified several solutions to help make cleaner and more controlled air in the home thus making it healthier and more comfortable. The attic was cleared of its old insulation, then air sealed via spray foam around the portions where the bottom of the roof met the attic floor, ZypFoam was used to seal other cracks that allowed air to pass to and from the rooms below, can light covers were installed and then sealed with ZypFoam, the AC duct system in the attic was encapsulated in spray foam and finally the whole attic was filled with TruSoft blown cellulose insulation. All of this will help to retain the conditioned air in the home and keep dust and allergens from working their way through the air ducts in the attic back into the rooms of the home. The home will have better controlled temperatures and the client should expect some lower energy bills.
Duct system before
We were able to remove this old duct covering and then encapsulate the duct with spray foam to better protect it.
Duct system after encapsulation
This is the duct system after being covered in spray foam.
Spray foam sealing after
After removing the old insulation this was air sealed and insulated with spray foam.
Air sealed and ready for insulation
The upside down looking buckets are can light covers. They are air sealed to prevent the escape of conditioned air from the home below.
Insulation before
This was removed and later insulated with spray foam.
