This Fredericksburg, VA home was suffering from rooms that got too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. After contacting an HVAC company and being told her system was working properly the homeowners contacted Comfenergy to get a free consultation. Our sales professional Jonathan went out to the property to perform a full home inspection and find the best possible solution to the homeowner’s discomfort. After completing the inspection Jonathan explained to the homeowners that the primary cause of their discomfort was the attic’s lack of any proper air sealing and the improperly installed low-quality insulation that was failing to properly protect the house. He determined that the best course of action to end their discomfort would be to completely air seal the attic and replace the old poorly installed cellulose and fiberglass insulation with new top-of-the-line TruSoft cellulose. After the homeowners agreed to Jason’s solution one of our talented service crews went out to get to work on the home. The crew started by removing and disposing of the old ineffective insulation that had been unable to keep the home comfortable. After that, they applied ZypFoam air sealant to all of the gaps in the attic floor. This sealed all the leaks that had been leading to uncontrolled unconditioned air seeping out from the attic and into the living spaces and had been the main cause of the original discomfort. Finally, the crew installed the new TruSoft cellulose insulation as the primary source of insulation to keep the home comfortable year-round.
