Photo Album: Vienna Attic Air Seal and Insulation Upgrade

This home in Vienna VA had an attic that needed improved insulation and air sealing to keep the conditioned air made by the HVAC system from escaping the living areas of the home. In order to properly air seal this space, the existing insulation would have to be removed and disposed of. Our production team will then use ZypFoam to air seal all of the small cracks and spaces where air could move in and out of the attic. The metal chimney pipe would also need to be wrapped and better insulated to keep from spreading heat into the attic. after air sealing the attic space would be filled with TruSoft blown cellulose insulation. We created a break and small walls where the homeowner can access areas of the attic for storage or utility equipment servicing.

Seeing the difference where old insulation has been removed and some still exists. The dirty color of the insulation is indication of air moving in the space. The insulation works like a filter and collects dust and allergens.

The letter and number codes indicate which materials and service our production team will need to produce. Our sales teams have a number of options for different materials and services that can be offered to a client, letting them pick which one is best for their intended needs and budget.

Attic Before

Prior to our service this attic had 2 different types of insulation. Both were dirty showing that the air in the attic was too. The lack of a proper air seal for this space was leading to several issues including home comfort for the home owners.

TruSoft blown cellulose insulation covers the attic floor after air sealing is completed.

Air Sealing and Chimney Wrap

ZypFoam was used to seal up all of the small gaps and cracks where air could enter of escape the attic. The chimney pipe was wrap insulated.

Once the old insulation was bagged up and removed, the space was clear to be air sealed with Zyp Foam.
