Photo Album: Fairfax VA Attic Air Sealing with Insulation
This Fairfax VA homeowner called us to see if we could help with making their home more comfortable year round. Our Home Performance Sales Pro Pedro went out to visit with the homeowner and perform a full home inspection. In speaking with the homeowners Pedro learned that different rooms in the home would be too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Pedro was able to identify solutions to help. In addition to better insulation materials and a zipper sealed attic hatch cover, Pedro determined that air sealing the attic would have a huge impact on making the home more comfortable. A lack of good air sealing in a home can result in conditioned air from the HVAC system being able to escape the rooms it is intended to heat or cool. When that happens, the HVAC system needs to create more conditioned air to replace it. This can mean uncomfortable rooms from one area of the home to another and high energy bills. Our production team removed the existing insulation and then used Zyp Foam to seal up all of the cracks and gaps in the attic flooring that were allowing the conditioned air to escape the rooms below and move into the attic. After air sealing, the attic would be filled with Tru Soft cellulose insulation.
