Photo Album: Waterford VA Attic Insulation, Spray Foam, Air Sealing and Energy Reduction

This Waterford VA homeowner wanted to make their home more energy efficient and more comfortable, so they called us to see if we could help.  Our Home Performance Sales Pro Eric visited and performed a full inspection of the home.  Eric identified a need for upgrading several aspects of the attic.  The old insulation was not properly installed in a way that provided even coverage and the floor of the attic has numerous gaps and holes where conditioned air from the HVAC system, intended to make the rooms below warm or cool at different times of year, had been able to escape the rooms causing a need for the HVAC system to work harder than it should and use more energy than the home owner would prefer to pay for.  Eric recommended removing the old insulation and using Zyp Foam to seal up many of the cracks, gaps and holes that were allowing air to pass. He also noticed several HVAC ducts with split or torn insulation around them in addition to several duct exchange boxes and joints which would need to be covered and sealed with Spray Foam insulation to better protect the air passing inside.  Dense packing of the area below the attic decking and then insulating the rest of the attic with Tru Soft cellulose insulation would be what completed the project.  Our production crew performed all the work including using protective measures to keep the home clean and free from damage while the work was being done.
