Photo Album: Stafford VA Attic Air Sealing and Insulation

This Stafford VA homeowner was unhappy with the comfort level in their house from season to season, often experiencing different temperatures throughout the house. They called us to see if we could help offer a solution. Our Home Performance Sales Pro Greg did a full inspection of the home and discovered that the attic was ineffectively and inefficiently insulated. After agreeing on the project, our Production Team started the work by removing the old insulation in the attic and then used Zyp Foam to seal up the gaps and cracks where air had been able to escape the living spaces below, including adding several can light covers to keep the heat from the lights from warming up the attic. Finally, Tru Soft cellulose insulation was blown in to fill up the space, burying much of the HVAC ducts running through the attic and covering the rest of the attic floor to the proper R value level. This will result in reduced energy use to heat and cool the home and will create more even temperatures from room to room, making the whole home more comfortable.
