Photo Album: Aldie Virginia Cold Floors and Cold Rooms
This home in Aldie Virginia had rooms that were too cold and an office with cold floors. The homeowner wanted to see if they could make the home more comfortable year round and called us for a free inspection. in addition to air sealing and improving the insulation in the attic, our Certified Home Performance Sales Pro Pedro was able to identify the need for insulating the cantilever of the home. This is where a section of room hangs out past the side of the home and has open air below it. When not properly air sealed and insulated, external air and temperatures may impact the feel of the floors and temperature in the room. Here we removed the existing insulation, used spray foam to seal and insulated and then repacked some of the old insulation into the cavity of the frame.
Cantilever Before
Our production team prepared the work area and then removed the frame cover.
Removing Old Insulation
Our team removed the existing fiberglass insulation that was stuffed in the the cavity.
Spray Foam
Spray foam not only insulates but it also creates an air seal, eliminating uncontrolled air flow.
Insulation
Repacking some of the old insulation on top of the newly applied spray foam. This will help with sound and temperature control inside.
Project Completion
Once finished, the cover was replaced and the cantilever was sealed up.
