Inconsistent Room Temperatures in Louisa, VA
Challenge
Homeowners in Louisa, VA were frustrated with the temperature fluctuation in their homes. It was wintertime and certain rooms always felt colder than others. Once our Sales Professional made a visit and conducted a free home comfort evaluation, it was clear that they needed better insulation in the attic. Insulation can lose its effectiveness over time and often homeowners are unaware. The biggest evidence of this problem is when the living space becomes uncomfortable. Homeowners will notice drafts in the winter and trouble cooling rooms in the summer, which is a direct result of extreme attic temperatures and poor insulation.
Solution
In this case, our crew started by removing the old insulation that was no longer effective. Then, we installed a SilverGlo foam, insulation board. This polystyrene foam is injected with graphite powder, which improves its insulating power. The graphite increases the R-value and the foil face on both sides reflects the heat and cold throughout the year. SilverGlo rigid foam insulation will not shrink or reduce the R-value like some other types of rigid insulation. This product protects the house against energy losses by putting a continuous & airtight layer of foam insulation beneath the attic rafters and inside the attic's gable walls. It also sheds water and will not support mold growth or provide a home for pests. After installation, these homeowners enjoyed a more comfortable, energy-efficient home.
