Why are there lines are on the roof of this building in Ashford at 7:30am?
The heat coming from the building is leaking up through the ceiling into the attic. That heat is melting the frost off of the roof where it is just plywood. The roof joists are acting as insulation and keeping the frost from melting at those points. I did not get into the building, but my guess on the horizontal shading is most likely a vaulted of coffered ceiling...

Another Successful Insulation Job
Stage 2 foam spray seed the attic and made for more even cooling. The homeowners' AC now cycles on and off like its supposed to!!
Attic Insulation
This home only had about 6" of attic insulation in it which was making the top floor uncomfortable. We installed new soffit air baffles, covered 2 recessed lights, sealed around the attic access hole, replaced some fallen blanket insulation, installed insulation on the back of the access door that had none, and then blew in another 10" over the existing insulation.
Hollow Interior Walls
Many homes lose heat and energy through hollow interior walls. We can fix this by "air sealing" the attic as shown in this picture. Sealing these walls with foam spray lessens draftiness, and your energy bills. How do you know if a home is leaking like this? Check for dirty carpet edges! Dirty carpet edges are a clear indicator for heat/energy loss.
Pumping in New Attic Insulation
Attic Insultation... or Lack There Of!
This is me standing on top of an interior wall in an attic. Notice the "gap" on either side of the top plate of the wall? This wall had about 1/8" on each side. If you figure about 200 linear feet of interior wall with an average 1/8" gap on each side, that gives you a total of about 50 square inches of air leakage to loose heated/cooled air. There is a reason that new home builders are sealing the top wall plates of a home with foam now! ENERGY WASTE! Have us evaluate your walls to see if they are wasting your energy!
