Attic Insulation Photo Album: McLean air seal and duct spray foam

Air sealing is a vital part of making sure that any insulation project ends up with the intended result.  Insulation is significantly less effective if the space it is covering has free air flow in and out.  This McLean VA attic was in need of an insulation upgrade and a way to make sure that the conditioned air made by the HVAC system would be delivered to the rooms in need of conditioning at the temperature it was intended to be.  These photos show ZypFoam being used to seal up every little gap possible, which includes places where electric wiring, vents and even plumbing allow for air to pass.  Spray Foam was used to encapsulate the HVAC duct, keeping the air moving inside from being impacted by the temperature in the attic.
