Attic Insulation Photo Album: Duct Encapsulation and Attic Insulation in Martinsburg WV

This 17 year old Martinsburg WV home was having issues keeping the inside properly conditioned with the cool air created by the HVAC system. Our sales pro Jason went to inspect the home and discovered a series of solutions to help. It was determined that the home had less than adequate insulation, a poor air seal to keep in the cooled/heated air from the HVAC system and the ducts were exposed in the attic to whatever temperatures were occurring, making it difficult to keep the air inside controlled. Several of the duct hinges were also opened or had gaps where the air was able to escape. Removing the old insulation, air sealing the attic with Zyp Foam, insulating the HVAC ducts with Spray Foam and then blowing in TruSoft cellulose insulation to cover it all was the solution.

This HVAC duct is insulated with Spray Foam. The conditioned air inside will now be more proteted as it travels to the rooms in the home.

zypFoam seals all of the small gaps and spaces where air can move in and out of the homes living spaces below. Spray Foam insulates this HVAC exchange.

Although this HVAC duct was wrapped, it had tears in the wrapping and was not providing proper insulation to protect the air travelling inside of it. This attic had temperatures above 110 degrees which meant that the HVAC duct was exposed to it as well.

Zyp Foam on the ground shows all of the places where air was being permitted to escape the home below and come into the attic. now it is sealed up and will better hold the cooled and heated air made by the HVAC system. This HVAC duct will be covered in Spray Foam to insulate and protect the air inside.

The covering on this GVAC duct was ripped and had multiple holes making the insulation quality insignificant.

After Zyp Foam was used to air seal and the Spray Foam was used to insulate the ducts, TruSoft cellulose insulation was blown in to cover and further insulate it all.
