Attic Insulation Photo Album: Spotsylvania VA Attic Insulation, Air Seal and Radiant Barrier

This homeowner in Spotsylvania VA called us due to discomfort issues they were experiencing in their home.  They had rooms that were too hot compared to others and were especially uncomfortable in the summer months.  After performing a free full home inspections to determine the cause of the problems, we were able to narrow down several solutions to make it better.  The existing insulation in the attic was inefficient and the lack of an air seal was allowing conditioned air created by the HVAC system to escape the rooms in the home that it was intended to cool off.  Additionally, the attic was discovered to have been heating up due to the sun beating down on it directly for most of the day.  Our production team removed the old insulation, used ZypFoam to seal up the cracks and spaces where air was allowed to escape, applied a radiant barrier to the underside of the roof and then blew in TruSoft cellulose insulation.  This will all work to help make the home more comfortable and will reduce the need for the HVAC syatem to keep pumping cold air into the rooms of the home, thus reducing the energy costs for the homeowner.
