Attic Insulation Photo Album: Clifton VA Attic Insulation, Air Seal and Spray Foam

This Clifton VA homeowner had pests in their attic area and needed to have their existing insulation removed in order to treat for the pests and then replaced. While inspecting the attic space for insulation service, our Sales Pro Jason was able to recommend getting the attic air sealed as well in order to maximize the performance of the attic once the new insulation was blown in. In addition to applying the air seal using ZypFoam on all of the cracks and gaps where air could travel, we used MoldX2 Botanical spray and MoldX2 Cleaner to reduce the likelihood or organic growth from mold and to disinfect the space. Several HVAC duct joints were sealed up with spray foam, the chimney pipes were wrapped with insulation and the TruSoft Cellulose insulation was blown into the rest of the attic, including enough material to bury several of the HVAC ducts. This will reduce the energy needed to run the HVAC system and will help keep conditioned air in the rooms below the attic from escaping.

Once the old insulation was removed and MoldX2 components were sprayed into the attic ZypFoam was used to seal up the small cracks and gaps where air had been able to escape.

Not only was this old insulation material welcoming to pests, but it was not burying the HVAC ducts, leaving them open to impact from the hot attic temperatures in the summer and cold attic temperatures in the winter.
