Attic Insulation Photo Album: McLean VA Attic Insulation and Air Sealing

This McLean VA home needed to have the attic condition addressed in order to better serve the homeowners in improving the comfort level in the rooms below and to help reduce some of the cost related to heating and cooling the home. The old insulation had become dark and dirty due to the fact it had been collecting dust and allergens from the air in the home for years. A lack of an air seal for the attic meant that conditioned air from the rooms below was able to make its way into the many small cracks and gaps in the ceiling and escape into the attic. This caused the HVAC system to run more often and create more conditioned air. Our production team removed all of the old insulation and then used Zyp Foam to seal up those cracks and gaps. They cleaned the attic before then blowing in Tru Soft Cellulose insulation to fill and insulate all of the space around the decking and storage space.

The space below and all around this attic decking was cleared and will all be air sealed and then properly insulated with blown Tru Soft cellulose insulation.

Old Insulation

Too low of a level for the old insulation. Increasing the R Value of the space will better insulate the home and help to keep the HVAC ducts working to deliver cold and hot air as needed.
