Attic Insulation Photo Album: Woodbridge VA Attic Insulation and Air Sealing

The Woodbridge VA homeowners wanted to make the top floor of their home more comfortable year round.  For years they had been dealing with top floor temperatures that were too hot in the summer and too cold in the winters, regardless of how much they adjusted their home HVAC system thermostat.  Our Home Performance Sales Pro Pedro performed a full home inspection to try and identify what was causing the problems.  He was able to identify the condition of the homes attic as the culprit.  The attic has insufficient insulation, uncontrolled air flow, uncontrolled moisture and was allowing conditioned air from the rooms below to escape.  Water was collecting in some areas of the attic leaving wet, musty insulation.  Our production team removed the old insulation, cleaned the cleared out attic floor and then used Zyp Foam to air seal all of the gaps, cracks and seams in the attic floor and frame.  Soffit Baffles were installed to close off some of the openings where external air was allowed to come in and cat walk with storage decking was built to allow movement through the attic while still holding the Tru Soft cellulose insulation in place.  Turning the attic into a more controlled space and preventing the loss of conditioned air from the rooms below will result in improved comfort year round and lower energy bills.
