Attic Insulation Photo Album: Alexandria VA Attic Insulation with Radiant Barrier and Spray Foam

This homeowner in Alexandria VA had a top floor that was too hot. They called us to see if we could help make things cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Our Home Performance Sales Pro Jason visited the home and did full inspection to see what areas could be addressed to help with the comfort issues. Jason identified several options for treatment within the attic of the home that would help control air flow and stabilize the temperature of the top floor. All of Jasons project plans would also help to reduce the energy used i the home to cool and heat it. Radiant barrier on the underside of the roof, Silver Glo insulation panels on the walls, Zyp Foam along all the cracks and gaps of the attic floor, spray Foam insulation along a large section of exposed HVAC ducts and finally Tru Soft cellulose insulation blown in to fill up the attic.

Insulation Panels and Spray Foam

The HVAC duct here is encapsulated with Spray Foam to protect the conditioned air travelling inside from the harsh temperatures in the attic. This will prevent duct sweating and help keep the temperatures in the home more controlled.

Attic Air Sealing

Zyp Foam is used here to seal up the cracks and gaps throughout the attic. Eliminating the opportunity for conditioned air to escape the rooms below.

Attic Radiant Barrier

This radiant barrier will help reflect radiant heat from penetrating the attic roof.

Spray Foam Insulation

HVAC duct encapsulation with spray foam helps keep conditioned air travelling safely through the system in order to properly cool and heat the rooms it is intended to.
