This home in Springfield VA had a large, open attic space along with several knee walls that were ineffectively insulated and leading to poor home performance. The HVAC system was working harder than it needed to in order to keep pumping conditioned air into rooms that were not air sealed or insulated and therefore allowing that conditioned air to escape. This lead to increased energy costs for the homeowner and changing levels of comfort from one room in the house to another. After calling us for help, the homeowners received a free Home Performance inspection and we determined what solutions would help. In addition to air sealing the entire attic and using Silver Glo insulation panels to insulate the knee walls, we removed the existing insulation and blew in Tru Soft cellulose insulation to fill the attic to its needed R Value to properly insulate.
