This Hamilton, VA homeowner complained of cold floors in the winter and draftiness throughout the home. Comfenergy found a vented, nasty crawl space allowing cold air to touch the floors above. Even though there was fiberglass batting installed, it didn't cut it.
Solution
Comfenergy put together a solution involving encapsulating the crawl space. This makes the crawl a conditioned area, keeping it warm and dry. We even installed a sump pump to ensure it would stay that way. We even found a few snakes!!!
Project Summary
Evaluator: Corey Hatcher
Cold floors and drafty areas were the complaint of this Hamilton, VA homeowner.
Look at how nasty this crawl space was. Definitely needed some TLC from Comfenergy.
Another before shot!
One of the Comfenergy team members found a few friends during the encapsulation process.
All of the fiberglass insulation was removed and disposed of. Then new "Dimple matting" was installed on the floors to keep them dry. TerraBlock floor insulation was installed next to keep the Earth from absorbing the heat from the crawl.
The final product included CleanSpace vapor barrier, closed cell spray foam on the walls, and a new sump pump!
