This Catlett, VA homeowner had a huge utility bill this month and they called Comfenergy to see if we could figure out how to lower their bills. Comfenergy performed a FREE energy audit to determine the ways the home was using and losing heat in the winter.
Solution
There were many areas that needed some TLC such as air sealing, can light leakage, skylights that had no insulation. The following case study pictures show some of the many ways we were able to help the homeowner lower their bills.
Project Summary
Evaluator: Corey Hatcher
This Catlett, VA homeowner was looking for ways to lower their utility costs.
This skylight was bare and had no thermal insulation at all.
Comfenergy used closed cell spray foam to air seal and protect the skylight with a great thermal barrier.
New soffit air baffles used for proper attic ventilation.
An attic tent keeps heated air in while also stopping any TruSoft cellulose from falling on you when you access the attic.
Can lights were covered and air sealed with one part spray foam.
Finally, the attic was blown to an R60 value with TruSoft cellulose to provide a great thermal barrier.
