Blown-In Attic Insulation in Bumpass, VA
Challenge
This Bumpass, VA family was having issues with their energy costs. As the winter season came around they noticed that their poorly insulated attic was causing the heat they were paying for to escape from the top of the house. The family wanted to save their expensive conditioned air and block the frigid outdoor temperatures from slipping in, so they gave Comfenergy a call and we went to work!
Solution
Our experienced Sales Professional, Carl, guided the family through their problems with a free home energy evaluation. He discovered that most of their energy dilemmas were due to their attic, which did not have efficient insulation. We sent our Comfenergy Production Crew out to get to work and install the best products around. First, we removed all of the old insulation, and then we went ahead and air sealed the entire attic. More exfiltration occurs through the attic than anywhere else in the house. Next, we installed TiteShell Recessed Light Fixture Covers and then we air sealed and insulated the scuttle cover with SilverGlo. We prepared the metal chimney for insulation by sealing the chimney chase with metal flashing, applying fire caulk, and wrapping it with a Rock Wool Sleeve. Finally, the crew blew in TruSoft Cellulose Insulation. This loose-fill cellulose insulation is blown into the attic through long, flexible tubes that run from the blower to an application nozzle. TruSoft Cellulose will not burn, get moldy, or attract pests. Now this family has a warmer, more comfortable home with lower utility bills.
