Attic insulation improvement needed in Bealeton Va
Challenge
This Bealeton Va attic was in need of better insulation. While it does have some existing insulation, there are several bare spots that remain uninsulated along with multiple vents that allow air to come up through the ceiling inside the home and then escape from the attic. That means conditioned air that costs money was leaving the rooms below and exiting the home, causing the AC/Heat system to have to work harder and make more conditioned air. The roof was not insulated either and everywhere that light can be seen is an opportunity for air to flow freely.
Solution
Air sealing the cracks in the ceiling, spray foaming the large gaps where air is able to escape and blowing additional TruSoft Cellulose insulation into the bare spots will help to close off the attic and restrict the loss of conditioned air from the rooms below the attic. Insulating the under side of the roof will also help to create a thermal barrier against the external temperatures which can better stabilize the temperature inside the attic where the homeowner has stored some of their belongings. Taking control of this space can not only improve the energy consumption in the home but it can create a better environment in the attic for storage.
