Attic Insulation in Springfield, VA

Challenge

This Springfield, VA homeowner was complaining of uneven temperatures throughout the ranch style home. Hot and Cold spots were abundant. This Springfield, VA home also had high energy bills too. He had compared his bills to the neighbors and they were much higher.

Solution

Comfenergy found severe air leakage from the home into the attic and performed a complete attic air seal using one part spray foam. The bathroom exhaust fan was not vented to the outside of the home. This was allowing hot/humid air to enter the attic and condense during the winter. Comfenergy extended the bathroom exhaust fan to the outside of the attic. We also wrapped the furnace flue line with rock wool, fire resistant insulation.

Finally, 10" of TruSoft cellulose insulation was added to the attic floor to provide a better insulation value throughout. Thus, making all of the temperatures throughout the home even all year round.
