Photo Album: Chantilly VA Insulation Solutions for Uncomfortable Rooms

The homeowners of this Chantilly VA home were unhappy with the temperature of the rooms on the front of their house which were too hot in the summers.  They found themselves turning up their AC system more often than they would have liked and were in turn seeing high energy bills.  Our Home Performance Sales Pro Jon visited and was able to design a project that would help fix the issue using multiple non traditional insulation options. On the exterior of the home, a space above the front porch was insulated and air sealed with Silver Glo insulation panels and Zyp Foam to keep outside air and temperatures from coming in.  Inside of the home, the process of dense packing the walls was performed.  Small holes were cut into the drywall and a hose was used to blow in and tightly pack Rock Wool insulation into the frame of the walls.  Eliminating uncontrolled air flow in and out of the home along with adding more insulation to the walls would help make the rooms on the front of the house cooler in the summer months and will help to lower the energy costs of living in the home.
