Longtime customer of ours moved into a new home where an inspector flagged the attic for containing poor blown insulation that was providing insufficient containment of airflow and temperature regulation. The customer called us where one of our certified home performance sales pros, Carl, visited the home for a free estimate. Carl investigated the attic and devised a plan that would help bring the homeowner an attic that would be working efficiently and effectively. Our certified home performance production team removed the old batt insulation and sprayed the attic with Quick-Shield Yeti and Spray Foam to encapsulation the attic. This job helped keep the temperature at its desired set point and provide for a more comfortable home year-round.
This Ashburn VA homeowner was experiencing comfort issues in the living space of the home. Their HVAC system was working harder than they thought it should be causing their utility bills to be higher than they would like. There were rooms in the home with various temperatures one another and depending on the time of year the homeowner was either too hot or too cold. Our sales professional Pedro did a full home energy audit and identified several options for solving these problems. Pedro took detailed notes and set out a plan of action for our production team to execute. Removing the external cover of a cantilever on the side of the house and administering spray foam to both insulate and seal the space inside would help to keep external air and temperatures from impacting the room it was connected to. In the attic of the home, we removed some existing Tyvek panels and old batt insulation that was not working the way it was intended and replaced it with more spray foam. Other areas of the attic were air sealed to keep the conditioned air made by the HVAC system from being able to escape into the attic and out of the home. Once the spray foam and air seal were complete the attic was turned into a conditioned space with would no longer allow the living space of the home to have such fluctuations in temperature from room to room. The result is a more comfortable home with reduced energy costs.
