Soundproofing Photo Album: Woodbridge VA Attic Insulation Project
This homeowner in Woodbridge VA wanted to reduce the ability to hear noise from outside of the home across the top level. Our Home Performance Expert Pedro was able to design a project that would deliver that result along with improved comfort in the home and lower energy use. Our production team removed the existing insulation to expose the floor of the attic. All of the small gaps and cracks where air and sound were able to travel in and out of the attic were sealed with Zyp Foam. Other vents and places in the attic that allowed sound and uncontrolled air flow were sealed and covered. Silver Glo Panel insulation was used to cover sections of the attic walls and also air sealed with more Zyp Foam. Finally the attic was filled with Tru Soft cellulose insulation.

Attic Air Sealing
Zyp Foam seals up all of the seams and electrical cut outs in the floor of the attic.
Attic Air Sealing
Uncontrolled air flow is a primary source for most homes that have energy efficiency problems.
Cellulose Insulation
Tru Soft cellulose insulation was blown in to fill the attic and keep temperatures and sound more controlled.
Cellulose Insulation
Tru Soft cellulose insulation provides an excellent R value and helps to deter pests and possible infestation.
