Attic Spray Foam - Arlington, VA
Challenge
Comfenergy was called out to this Arlington, VA home for three main reasons: 1) Make the home more comfortable year round, 2) Lower the utility bills, and 3) Make the top floor cooler in the summer.
Solution
We found the best, most cost efficient solution for this homeowner was to remove the existing attic insulation, and encapsulate the attic using a high presure, 2 part open cell foam solution. The attic floor decking was removed to access the old, nasty insulation. This will allow the attic to "communicate" temperatures with the conditioned spaces below. Then, the soffits and gable vents were sealed up to provide a true air tight seal in the attic. Finally, the roof decking was sprayed to provide an air tight, well-insulated seal for the home.
Now the home is more comofrtable, especially the top floor! And the house will lose less conditioned air, lowering their utility costs and making the home more energy efficient.
