Spray Foam for Sound Proofing in Chantilly, VA
Challenge
A crematorium in Chantilly, VA called us asking for help in preparing their consultation room for business by sound proofing it from the adjacent room used to house the furnace.
Solution
Open cell foam was installed in order to provide a durable solution that will reduce the noise generated when the furnace is running. The application required a great deal of high bay work on a lift. The foam was trimmed after installation to allow for 2 layers of 5/8" drywall.
Wires were taped into place prior to spraying the foam. We have found that these wires can "lift off" the wall and get nicked or cut when completing the trimming operation. By taping the wires in place we eliminate dthis issue.
Gaco Fire Stop Open Cell Spray Foam was used for this project. Open cell foam is known for the ability to reduce sound transmission and is more effective than the related product, closed cell foam.
