A roofing company contacted Comfenergy to insulate a flat roof they were replacing. We suggested the use of foam spray insulation to better make an air tight barrier and thermal barrier.
Solution
The result of using foam spray (closed cell) will make the top floor of this home cooler in the summer and lower the utility bills!
Comfenergy to the rescue once again... thinking outside the box!
Project Summary
Evaluator: Scott Beers
Comfenergy was contacted by a roofer to re-insulate the "attic" portion of this flat roof when they replaced it.
Here is the before picture with the roofing and sheathing removed.
Comfenergy covered the recessed can lights on the top floor. Spray foam and heat don't mix and it could be a deadly fire hazard!
The finished product of spray foam insulation. Comfenergy installed 4" of depth to the roof to make an air tight seal and great thermal barrier. This home is now better insulated, making the top floor cooler in the summer and lowering their utility bills.
