Hot/Cold Addition-Herndon, VA
Challenge
This Herndon, VA homeowner was having trouble heating and cooling this wonderful addition they built a few years ago. Upon a thermal camera investigation we determined there to be loose fiberglass batts (which don't stop air movement) under the addition.
Solution
The old plywood was removed, and the fiberglass batts taken out. Closed cell spray foam was used to air seal and insulate the bottom of the addition. This keeps the hot/cold air away from the floor. The fiberglass batts were re-installed to add thermal protection and fill the rest of the cavities. New, white, composite boards were installed to make it look good and keep things in place when done.
