Spray Foam Insulation Photo Album: Herndon VA Spray Foam Insulation - Cantilever

This home owner in Herndon VA called us to see if we could help make the rooms in their home more comfortable year round and to reduce draftiness in the home. After a whole home performance inspection was done by our Sales Pro Pedro, we was able to design a project that would address all of the customers home performance concerns. In addition to doing some work in the attic of the home, our Production team was tasked with opening up the cantilevers on the front and rear of the home, removing the existing insulation inside and then sealing them back up with insulation panels in the rim joists along with spray foam insulation to air seal. this will all help to make the home more comfortable and the elimination of uncontrolled air flow will help to reduce the energy expense related to running the HVAC system to heat and cool the home.

Home Performance Project Design

A cantilever hangs out from the foundation walls of the home and often creates a way for uncontrolled air and temperature from outside to impact the comfort and temperature inside of the home. Cold floors and drafts can be a result.

Cantilever Insulation Removal

The old fiberglass insulation inside of the cantilever had been working like a filter, collecting dust, dirt and allergens as uncontrolled air flowed in and out of the home.

Insulation Panels

Cutting insulation panels to fit in the frame of the cantilever will help to insulate the rim joists and reduce the opportunity for uncontrolled air flow.

Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam insulation works to help with in many ways. Air sealing and eliminating the cracks and gaps for air to flow and also keeping control of the temperatures inside of the home.
