This home was looking to make the top floor more comfortable AND lower their utiltiy bills....all with one solution!!!
This Arlington VA home needed an improvement in the attic to help better insulate the home and improve the comfort for the homeowners. The existing insulation had gaps in between framing and the attic floor was not air sealed. Our production team insulated below the existing attic decking and then built up walls around it to hold in the proper level of blown in cellulose insulation around it. this helps to properly insulate the attic and also leaves a clean decking space for storage or access to walk around the space.
This Arlington VA home needed a full attic project completed to fix the comfort issues being experienced by the homeowners. Rooms in the house were too hot because they lacked and air seal and the attic insulation above was insufficient. Our production team removed the existing insulation, air sealed the cracks and gaps in the attic floor using Zyp Foam and then installed radiant barrier to the attic ceiling/roof under-siding. The radiant barrier will shield away heat rays from the sun which might otherwise work to warm the attic space and home. Paired with air sealing and insulation, this provides the best possible total solution for creating an energy efficient and comfortable home.
This Arlington VA home had a cantilever that was allowing outside air and temperatures to impact the room it was connected to. Cantilevers extend out beyond the wall of a home and are often uninsulated, allowing for air flow through the rim joists. We remove the material covering the bottom, install spray foam to insulate and air seal and then reattach the cover. This can help reduce energy bills and make the connected room more comfortable.
This homeowner had a drafty brick fireplace that allowed cold air into the home during the winter. It also allowed hot/humid air into the home during th summer. A new Pop-Top was installed on the chimney so they could close it up when not in use to stop air from coming in or going out.
