Attic Insulation Before & After Photos

This Burke VA home had an attic that was under insulated, lacked an air seal and had space that the homeowner wanted to use for storage purposes.  We were able to remove the old insulation, air seal the attic with Zyp Foam, build out damning walls to hold back blown in Tru Soft cellulose insulation and finally we installed an attic hatch door cover to keep the conditioned air below from leaking into the attic.  

A homeowner in Burke, VA did NOT like her attic. It was dark and icky and not an area that she liked to be in. She noticed dirt on her bedroom ceiling. The dirt was coming from the air vents and the attic was directly above her bedroom. She tried getting her ducts cleaned and a new HVAC system installed, but the dirt kept coming. Finally, she gave us a call at Comfenergy to address the space she'd rather not think about- the spooky attic. 

Our Sales Professional, Carl, could immediately see the problem. The insulation in this attic hadn't been replaced in a very long time. The decaying insulation contained pests droppings, dirt, and lots of dust. There were a few mold spots in places as well. After agreeing on a solution, the Comfenergy Production Crew got to work. We removed and properly disposed of the yucky old insulation and vacuumed out the space to get rid of all the dirt and grime. The attic was air sealed and fresh, clean ProWool Premium Insulation was installed. The duct system was encapsulated with polyurethane spray foam, the metal chimney was properly insulated, and Stefans' Radiant Barrier was installed along the underside of the roof rafters. 

Now this homeowner's attic is spectacular instead of spooky.  No more dirt on the bedroom ceiling, and she now had attic insulation that she would never have to replace again. This attic make-over made this customer's home cleaner, more comfortable, and will save her money on her energy bills. 

This homeowner in Burke VA called us because they wanted the top floor of their home to be cooler in the summer.  Our Home Performance Sales Pro Pedro did a fill home inspection and was able to identify opportunities in the attic that would help when addressed.  Our production team removed the existing old insulation in order to expose the attic floor.  They used Zyp Foam to air seal all of the small gaps and cracks where conditioned air had been escaping the rooms below.  Controlling the air flow inside of the home will help to reduce the energy costs to cool it in the summer and heat it in the winter.  After air sealing, our team blew in Tru soft cellulose insulation to fill the rest of the attic space and properly insulate the home. 

We removed the old, traditional bat style insulation, air sealed the space with ZypFoam and installed Foamax insulation panels on the walls and roof of this attic.  This helped make the floor space in the attic useable and made the attic a fully conditioned space unimpacted by outside temperatures.  

This Woodbridge VA home had a top floor that was too hot.  During the Home Performance Inspection, our sales pro Pedro discovered an improperly design bathroom exhaust vent.  The vent extended just into the attic and was distributing air from the bathroom into the attic adding unnecessary moisture to the space.  Our team extended the vent and made it properly exhaust air outside of the home.
